Lose Weight Fast - Can It Happen?

Dieting has always been something that’s much easier for me to put off than to actually start. Whenever I finally convinced myself to make an effort to drop those extra 10 or 15 pounds, something inevitably came up that derailed my plans. It might have been a surprise birthday party for someone at the office, complete with cake, ice cream, and cookies, or it might have been a friend wanting to get together for pizza and beer to watch the big game on TV. Whatever the reason, it seemed that dieting always took a back seat to ‘real life.’

But then I got an invitation to my 10-year high school reunion and I knew that I had to lose weight fast. There was no way that I was going to let everyone see me in my current state. I wanted to look fabulous for the event, so for a bit of extra motivation I bought a great outfit that was a couple of sizes too small. I thought that seeing the outfit every time I wanted to reach for a snack would remind me of why I needed to lose weight fast. This worked great for about a week, but it soon became clear that I would need help in order to lose weight fast enough to hit my target by the time the reunion rolled around.

I had tried many of the over-the-counter diet aids available at my local drug stores, and since none of those worked for me in the past, I decided to take my search to the Internet this time. I discovered that there are numerous products and services out there designed to help people just like me lose weight fast. I spent a lot of time researching the various products and offers that I saw. Here’s some of what I learned.

It really is possible to lose weight fast, particularly when using some effective supplements and/or suppressants in addition to the right combination of diet and exercise. Obviously, dieting (consuming fewer calories each day) and exercising are entirely up to me. There’s not a single product out there that will force me to get on the treadmill for 30 minutes a day or make sure that I make healthy food choices at each meal. But there are products that can help me lose weight fast by boosting my metabolism or curbing my appetite.

Since there are so many dieting products available, it was a bit difficult for me to make a choice right off the bat. What I had to do first was read through some testimonials and reviews from other customers to see if the product in question actually did help them lose weight fast. I also wanted to limit my choices to all-natural supplements. While it was important to me to lose weight fast, I wasn’t about to sacrifice my health or risk addiction in order to do so.

I finally settled on a couple of products and was surprised by the results. I really was able to lose weight fast! I wore the stunning outfit I had picked out in advance and I had a wonderful time at my high school reunion.

Will I be able to maintain this slimmer look? Only time will tell. But at least now I know that whenever I need to lose weight fast, help is only a few mouse clicks away.

Mangosteen

Filed under: Health-and-Fitness, Supplements — Kevin Stith @ 9:53 pm

Mangosteen (also known as mangostin and guttiferae garcinia mangostana L) is the fruit of the mangosteen tree. The tree is quite slow in growth but can achieve heights of anything from 20 to 80 feet. It is typically thick-leaved and grows exclusively in tropical countries with climate such as in India, the East Indies, Thailand and the Philippines.

It requires a considerable amount of moisture to thrive. The leaves are of leathery texture and can grow to a length of ten inches or more. It is believed to have originated from the Sunda Islands and is most extensively cultivated in Thailand, Kampuchea, Burma and Singapore.

There have been repeated attempts to cultivate it in places like Queensland and Africa, but these have never been very successful. The mangosteen tree was first introduced in America in 1906, when the United States Department of Agriculture received seeds from Java. Attempts to cultivate it in California, Florida and even Hawaii were not very ‘fruitful’, since the tree refuses to acclimatize itself.

Essentially, the mangosteen tree is very partial to tropical climates with temperatures above 40º F and below 100º F. It requires extremely high atmospheric humidity to thrive and a steady, abundant supply of ground water. Such conditions are hard to replicate in any non-tropical country.

A curious fact about its seeds is that they do not require fertilization in the accepted sense of the word – rather, they germinate entirely on their own. In fact, they could be termed integrated embryos in their own right. They sprout within a period of 20 days and the process is usually complete within 40 to 43 days of germination.

Cultivation is most successful when the seeds are planted at the beginning of the tropical rainy season, with a minimum spacing of 30 feet between individual trees.

Home Office Design for the Small Office

Working from home is many people’s goal. No traffic, no train delays, no office politics. But if you’re going to work from home full or part time, your work area needs to be carefully planned to make it comfortable and functional. By making some simple changes to either an existing office or when planning a new design, your choices of furniture are now possible to create an office space that can blend in to your house, especially when space is limited.

If your office will be in an existing room, such as a living or dining room, the use of a divider of some sorts will allow the room to be used for both purposes at the same time. Modular cube units are idea for this. Mix the cubes so that some face the office and others face the living space. If you prefer something softer, then a screen is a better choice. To save on costs, look for or make a screen using materials that match the decor of the room.

When selecting a desk, look for one that will allow you to close up sections, or the entire desk, with out putting anything away. This will allow you to leave you work undisturbed and be able to pick back up the next day. Also, having a desk that allow you to pull sections out will provide more room to work, when space is tight, and will provide sufficient storage when needed. If adding a desk is not possible and you’re sharing your office in a dinning room, you could use your dinning room table as your daytime desk and add a sideboard or small table with shelves for storing paperwork at the end of the day.

One essential aspect to the work area is lighting. The best light to work with is a directional light that can angle to illuminate your work area. The room should also have good natural light or artificial ambient light during the day or evening, so the contrast between the brightness of the computer screen and the rest of the room is never too great. The use of overhead or wall lights will balance the lighting.

If your work area is shared with another area, it is more important than ever to be well organized. If you do not have a desk to store pens, paper, rulers and every other essential items, consider using furniture like file cabinets that can used to store these items. Shelves can be used for books, box files, and magazines that can be fitted with a blind to hide them when you’re not working.

When looking for a desk that will be your computer work area, make a list of all the computer peripherals that you will be using. Make sure the desk is wide enough to accommodate a monitor if a flat panel monitor is not an option. The monitor should be at eye level for best comfort. If you are thinking of enclosing your PC, be sure there is ample air flow to prevent overheating. Look for a desk that has a low keyboard shelf with a sliding tray that can be pulled out when needed. A good desk will also include shelves for adding other components such as printers, scanners, zip drives and wireless routers. Most of all make sure the chair you choose will be comfortable and adjustable for spending long house in front of the desk. Aim to spend as much money as you can and economize elsewhere.

Having a home office that blends into an existing room is possible without making dramatic changes. Best of all, you can do it without spending a fortune and enjoy working from home!

What is a Debt Management Plan?

Filed under: Debt-Consolidation, Finance — Neil Melvin @ 6:54 pm

A Debt Management Plan (DMP) is a mutual agreement between you and a Credit Counseling Agency (CCA). Simply put, you agree to repay your debts in full over time, without taking on any more debt. In return, most creditors will agree to significantly reduce your interest charges and waive any late fees.

Even though DMPs are often referred to as Debt Consolidation — there is a difference. While DMPs consolidate your monthly payments into one, easy payment, they are NOT Debt Consolidation Loans.

Save Time:

A DMP can help get you out of debt more quickly than you could on your own.

Save Money:
A DMP can drastically reduce the high rates of interest typically charged by most creditors. They also eliminate late fees, so more of your money goes toward reducing your debt.

Gain Peace of Mind:
Besides putting an end to harassing calls from collectors, the right provider can guide you through a difficult time and help you plan a brighter financial future.

Your Financial Future Is More Stable:
DMPs have less impact on your credit history than Debt Settlement or Bankruptcy, so you’re more likely to gain access to credit again once you’ve taken care of your debts.

Solving One Problem Doesn’t Create New Ones:
Unlike Debt Consolidation Loans, DMPs do not inc
ur additional secured debt that could put assets, such as your home, in jeopardy.

Tips for Getting the Most Life Out of Your Laptop Battery

As more and more people are becoming part of the mobile workforce and using laptop or tablet PC’s battery life is often a primary concern. Today’s portable computers use lithium-ion batteries instead of older style nickel-cadmium power sources. In addition to being able to hold a greater charge, lithium is also very light weight, another important concern for portable computers.

When you are purchasing your computer investigate if a long-life battery is available. While it will add to the cost it can give up to double the usage of a normal battery. To get the most usage out of your battery you’ll need to understand a little bit about how batteries work. Each battery has a limited number of charge cycles. If your battery lasts for 4 hours and on the first day you use it for 2 hours and then recharge it fully and the next day you use it for 2 hours again and then fully recharge it again, you will have completed one charge cycle. Each battery has a limited number of charge cycles before it starts losing it’s the charge it can hold.

If you aren’t using your wireless connection to connect to the internet or network turn off the wireless connection it will extend the life of your battery. The same holds true for Bluetooth connections. Another way to extend your battery life is to lower the brightness of your monitor. Lastly bear in mind that using your portable computer to play a DVD movie uses more power than using a spreadsheet.

If you find that you are often using the computer with the battery at full charge while connected to the main power supply you may want to remove the battery. Keeping the battery fully charged while it’s at a high temperature, which is typical of conditions of a laptop that is always plugged into the main power supply, will dramatically shorten its lifespan. Discharging the battery regularly is also conducive to long battery life. Under optimal conditions laptop batteries will last 24 to 36 months, under less than optimal conditions you may shorten the lifespan down to 12 to 18 months.

To help keep your battery operating at optimal conditions try to fully discharge it once a month. Many people find it helpful to set a calendar reminder so they don’t forget. If you find your battery lasts less than 60 minutes, try fully discharging it several days in a row. Just leave your computer on overnight with no applications running. Be sure to turn off any alarm or lower power warnings that are associated with your power settings. If this fails to work you will need to replace the battery.

Add Significance to Your New Year’s Resolutions

The start of a new year is traditionally a time to reflect on the previous year. It is also a time to establish new resolutions. Popular resolutions include losing weight, getting more fit, getting out of debt, and making more money.

Giving to others tends to be forgotten when creating resolutions. However, their impact on you and others can be more significant than pursuing the more common resolutions.

What are some resolutions related to giving that you can consider as you pursue your own? Consider the following examples:

  • Increase your financial giving to church and charities.
  • Increase your time donated to important causes.
  • Write and send an encouraging note at least weekly.
  • Smile and greet the first people you meet every morning.
  • Perform an act of kindness at least weekly.
  • Search the house for unused, unneeded items and donate them for others to use.
  • Increase the number of people you share your faith with.
  • Donate your blood multiple times during the year.
  • Determine your life purpose.
  • Your list needs to be unique to you. Use the above items only as a starting point in determining your own.

Be sure to set resolutions for yourself for the upcoming year that will help make a difference in the world. It will provide a special significance throughout the new year as you fulfill these important resolutions.

Sales Opportunity Management: The Key To A Sales Turnaround

Filed under: Business, Sales-Management — Andrew Rowe @ 3:06 pm

Does your company need a sales turnaround? As we enter the new year, it’s a great time for us to take a fresh look at our sales performance in our companies and take action to turn around those aspects that we’re not satisfied with or which are lagging behind our expectations. Putting together a sales turnaround plan for your company can be done fairly quickly and fairly easily.

The first thing is to pull together key opinion leaders in the company, not just from sales and marketing, but are from outside and other departments, such as finance, operations, product development, etc. and to ask yourself, ‘What is it that we can do to improve our sales? How can we rally the whole company around making those improvements? What are the easiest and most rewarding opportunities that we have? What are the complacencies that have set in to our sales team that we need to eliminate? Are there territories that are underserved? Where are our best opportunities and how are our sales teams aligned to capitalize on those? What is the individual performance of each of our sales people and what are we doing to take corrective action with a poor performers or move them out of the company if they’re not capable of stepping up to our expectations.’

Now is a great time for you to start thinking about a turnaround plan for your company’s sales if they are lagging behind expectations. If your company is in a rapidly expanding market and you’re showing growth that’s slower than the market, it means that you’re losing market share to your competition. If your company is in a flat market but you have outstanding opportunities in segment or niches of that market, a sales turnaround could mean refocusing your resources on those market segments where your best opportunities are. If your company’s in a declining market, a sales turnaround could mean refocusing your company on new market segments or with new products that will allow you to boost your opportunities and get back on the path to growth. These are all things that you should think about as you think about a turnaround plan for your company’s sales efforts.

Sales opportunity management is the key to improving results. A lot of companies struggle with identifying and prioritizing the best opportunities for them amongst their prospects and amongst the deals they’re working on. Best in class companies do a great job at sales opportunity management by spending regular time analyzing their pipeline, analyzing each customer opportunity, and prioritizing the allocation of resources to make sure that those best opportunities can be focused on and converted into sales. A quick way to get organized is to have a top ten opportunity list for each of your sales reps, to bring that list to every sales meeting, and to get a regular update on what’s being done to advance each of the sales on those top ten accounts. Many companies fail to do this, but it’s a very easy tactic that can be used in order to bring greater visibility to the key accounts that are going to drive your business, and make sure that your sales reps are focusing their top attention on them.

A simple spreadsheet which is updated once a week by your sales reps and discussed at the sales meeting is a great way for you to do a top ten account review. Have your reps focus on those ten accounts every week and make sure that each week you’re holding them accountable for showing some advancement on each of those accounts, and also planning what the next steps are to continue to advance the sales at those companies. By maintaining a top ten list for each of your sales reps, you’ll show them that it’s important for you to get visibility on the accounts that they’re working on that are going to drive revenue and help them to achieve their sales quotas.

It will also get them into the mindset that they need to be focusing their time and energy on the best opportunities, as opposed to just turning out the sales activity. Lots of sales reps get overwhelmed by the volume of activity that they need to generate in order to do their jobs effectively. They get lost in activity and start to equate activity with productivity. Being productive in sales means being able to quickly qualify your best opportunities and focus your time and attention on moving those opportunities forward. By using an opportunity management system, such as the one we’ve suggested here, you can quickly make sure that your sales reps are giving primary focus to what’s going to produce the sales that your company needs in order to accelerate its revenue growth.

Sales Training And The Way You Think

Filed under: Business, Sales-Training — Clayton Shold @ 2:37 pm

Confucius observed, ‘He who learns but does not think, is lost! He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.’

Learning and thinking are fundamentally linked. They need to be.

Let me state a working assumption, that is, people who choose to work in sales have been through a selection process to identify competencies and the individual has a realistic understanding of the sales role, responsibilities, and challenges.

When starting a sales career, sales training plays a critical role. Development usually focuses on three key areas, technique, process, and product. Layered over these are marketing components that address networking, prospecting and promotion. Together they form the technical components of sales training. Once mastered, they only improve with practice and repetition.

Arguably, the technical learning described in the preceding paragraph is not difficult. Product knowledge may be the exception as product can be complex. The topics have been studied and presented over many years. They have evolved and adapted but there have been few changes to the fundamental concepts of selling. Perhaps the last major change was the shift to needs based selling and the impact of a more informed consumer due to greater access to information on the Internet.

So then has the art of selling been perfected?

Perhaps, but some say it’s all for naught if you haven’t first tackled the way you think!

In fact my experience suggests that how think should be an ‘up front’ consideration.

Before getting on the road to technical development, there are real advantages to individuals and their organizations if both appreciated the impact effective thinking has on learning. Imagine an individual who is negative, pessimistic, lacks self-esteem, and procrastinates. Compare that person to a positive, self-starting optimist who is full of confidence and believes in himself or herself.

How you think, or your mindset, sets the tone for what follows in your career. It sets the tone for how you learn, how you interact with peers as well as prospects and clients.

In the perfect world, we would only hire those with a positive and optimistic attitude. We attempt to avoid recruiting those with a negative mindset who don’t have a strong belief in self and who are not achievement oriented. In reality, we encounter individuals all along the spectrum.

The good news is someone with a negative or neutral mindset can learn to be an effective thinker. In fact, even those with a positive mindset can find ways to improve.

If one consciously understands their personal thinking style, and is able to recognize such things as negative self-talk and counter-productive behaviors, they are well on the way to affecting their mindset. Similar to learning, practice and repetition will enable and adjust the thought process. In time, the conscious re-framing, positive self-talk, and awareness becomes the new mindset.

Imagine the impact a positive mindset can have during the training event. The outcome can be significant. This permits an organization to better leverage its training investment - and ultimately the individual benefits from increased likelihood of personal success.

I’ll close with a last thought on mindset from Confucius, ‘The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.’
