Shiite Divisiveness Troubling

Filed under: News-and-Society, Politics — Kevin Roberts @ 11:21 pm

As if the United States didn?t have enough problems with the War in Iraq, the leader of the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq, a powerful Shiite party with strong ties to Iran, is causing trouble.

Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, the leader of the party, has called for legislation allowing the southern provinces of Iraq the opportunity to start the process of creating semi-autonomous states in Iraq, according to a New York Times article written by Richard A. Oppel, Jr. and Abdul Razzaq Al-Saiedi. If the new regions are established, they would have considerable control over their own security and oil resources, according to the Times article published on September 11.

While federalization of Iraq may be right for the country down the road, the government needs to be unified right now because of the violence in the country that is threatening to rip it apart. The Shiites can point to the Kurds autonomy and claim their fair share, but the Kurds have had their autonomy since the Gulf War, when the country was reasonably stable. Saddam Hussein was a monster, but Sunnis weren?t killing Shiites in escalating numbers and vise versa.

Now would be a bad time to call for autonomous regions, considering the fight that would ensue over who has the rights to the vast oil reserves. The best policy for right now would be to share them until the country becomes stable. Hakim?s plan is being challenged by Sunni leaders, one of whom warned against pushing the legislation through.

According to the Times article, Dhafir al-Ani, a Sunni member of parliament, said that ?approving Mr. Hakim?s proposal without first resolving these issues would ?abort the plan for national reconciliation and will make the national unity government fail.?? Mr. Ani also believed that Hakim would look to implement the policy immediately and not in a year or two, as Hakim claimed, according to the Times article.

The Shiites have continuously pushed for autonomy in the south, which has angered the Sunnis. The Sunnis dominated the central government under Saddam, but partition now would be a serious problem considering the amount of violence that presently exists in the country.

Many have said that the only chance Iraq has of avoiding civil war is by having a political solution to the civil strife. If all of the sides can?t agree, there won?t be a unity government. The government is fragile and doesn?t need fighting over autonomy. The Shiites must back off of this political battle. In turn, the Sunnis and Kurds must agree to work with the Shiites, so this isn?t a one-sided deal.

A Few Airbrush Tips

With a large pool of artists implementing the airbrush art movement into their art, many airbrush tips exist for beginner and constant users alike. Most often, beginning airbrush users like to know the proper way to utilize the airbrush for their own needs. Learning how to clean their tools also serve as an important airbrush tip.

For airbrushes to work correctly, it must be kept clean. The methods used in cleaning these products are explained in airbrush tips. With airbrushes that use oil paints, lacquer thinner is the best cleaner. To use this material, have a wide brimmed can (with a cover) and enough thinner so that a brush can dip down and grab the thinner.

The airbrush tip continues to explain that once you are done with a color, you can then pour the rest back into the bottle and spray the remaining out on an old rug or tee shirt. Wipe the cup with a rag and then dip the end of the brush into the thinner and move it around a bit. After that, pour the thinner out of the cup and make another partial cup load. Then, spray the thinner into the can and you?re done.

Another airbrush tip includes the use of acrylic paints with your airbrush. These paints can be cleaned out much like the other, with lacquer thinner. However, many have discovered that running warm water is available it?s much easier to use. After pouring the extra paint into the bottle and spraying the remaining paint out, this airbrush tip explains to the user to put the brush into the running water and flush out most of the extra paint.

One can use their finger to put at the end of the brush and put some air with the needle pulled back into the airbrush. This put excess paint into the cup. The airbrush tip continues to explain that one must work the needle valve back and forth until there is no paint left. After that, you should blow a cup of water out of the brush and shake the brush out at various angles. This airbrush tip is extremely important because you do not want a lot of water in your brush when you place more paint into it.

Willie Nelson at Red Rocks

Willie Nelson and his family band played another sold-out show at the Red Rocks Amphitheater at Morrison, Colorado, on September 3, 2006. It was another memorable concert by this masterful musician. Willie sounded great, and his guitar playing was stellar, as always. He came out in a plaid flannel shirt, and you just wanted to hug him. It’s fun to see him at a show outside, when it’s cool and he has to put on something long sleeved and cuddley.

Willie looked tired when he started out on Whiskey River. but I figured, he’d been riding in his bus for hours and hours from California, maybe played some golf along the way — he had to be exhausted. He rolled into ‘Still is Still Moving’ so smoothly, and then he just took off, and took us all with him. By the time he got to Bobby McGee, he was peeling off his flannel shirt , to the cheers of the women in the crowd, which drew a sweet shy smile from Willie.

Willie says Red Rocks is his favorite venue, and I gotta say he’s Red Rocks’ favorite, too. I could see Willie picking up on the fans’ energy. It was a loving appreciative crowd, and many times Willie thanked us (while we were thanking him!), and saying, ‘I can hear you. Thank you.’ I love when he says he can hear us. At one point, he said, ‘Red Rocks you are the greatest.’ No Willie, you are the greatest.

Willie sang a song I haven’t heard in a while, ‘Sweet Memories’. It was so beautiful. And he sang his new song, ‘You Don’t Think I’m Funny Anymore.’ It was such a crowd pleaser. It is a hit song already. Jody and Willie did a wonderful version of Pancho and Lefty, and the long guitar bridges, (is that the word), in ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ just gave me goosebumps. No Working Man’s Blues, but a very animated ‘Me and Paul.’

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band opened, and their set was good. That was just about as much bluegrass as I like. They played some new stuff, some old favorites, like Mr. BoJangle, covered some Beach Boys and Beatles tunes, and threw in some traditional blue grass. John the banjo/violin/guitar player, is such an good musician and always so animated; it was a treat to watch him. Everyone in the band sings, so the drummer/harmonica player joined at the mic for several tunes, as did the keyboard player. They came out and joined Willie on Will the Circle Be Unbroken, which was very appropriate. Taylor Hicks, the American Idol guy, came on stage and sang with Willie and the Dirt Band. When he walked in the girl next to me yelled in my ear, ‘That’s Taylor Hicks, the American Idol.’ But for me there was just one American Idol on the stage last night.

John Hickenlooper, Denver’s Mayor was sitting in the VIP section. When I left I passed a dozen limos parked waiting for Willie fans, all decked out for a good time with Willie. There is something so magical being at Red Rocks,: the sun sets, the moon comes up, Willie comes on stage with the bright lights of Denver shining like diamonds behind him. Pure magic.

Baby Book Style

Filed under: Home-and-Family, Parenting — Sophia Ton @ 9:04 pm

What is your Baby Book Style?

Baby books come in a variety of styles. Here are popular picks:

Photo Album ? No doubt is left in your mind when you pick one of these up. Grandmas generally carry one around in their handbags. Photos, photos, photos - -that?s what they really want to show off! So give them a little baby book album.

Kodak Moments ? For those people showcasing super shots, many choose professional kits like Kodak Baby Book Memory Kits. They feature a 12×12 album with simulated-leather cover, sheets of themed solid colored paper and themed patterned paper, sheets of pre-printed stickers, assorted self-adhesive die-cut shapes, deckle scissors, photo safe glue stick, gel pens and decorated frames.

Gender-Specific ? Others choose pink or blue baby memory books, like the ones you can find locally at Target. They feature an inkpad for baby’s first hand and footprints, plenty of pages for scrapbooking and journaling, plus pages for Medical History, News of the Day, Family History, first five birthdays , plus first tooth and first curl envelopes.

Museum Style ? These baby books carry recorded history. Generally sturdy, hard cover books with stiff spines allow for one-time written entries, but no fun tooth- and hair-stuffing envelopes or scrapbooking room. These are for fancy coffee table settings in formal living rooms.

Personalized Style - These books are unique. You may find one with the scripted first name of the child in pink or blue, with a coordinating ribbon running top to bottom along the outside cover. Or you might find a nice photo of little Jane or little Johnnie on the front, a nice name template with her or his name scripted with a fine glitter pen underneath, and a family photo with short history blurb and template on the back cover. And inside you?ll find unique, hand-crafted scrapbooking pages matted with a colorful assortment of fabric or themed patterned backgrounds, and all sorts of assorted glitter, bows, ribbons, photos and other fun stuff inside.

Bound and Published ? Some people take a time out, assemble their pages and memorabilia and have it all bound; lock, stock and barrel. They may have a nice plastic ring binder for easy page turning, and inside you?ll find nifty written memory sections coordinated with photos and other neat saved items on each page.

Regardless of your style preferences and choices, there is something for everyone with baby memory books today.

Filed under: Investing, Real-Estate — Toby Lynn @ 7:14 pm

10 steps to buying profitable single family houses.

Step 1. Market your services, not your company name.

‘What do you mean, my company name is very important to
me.’

That’s great, it’s important to the IRS too, but not your

what your name is What can you do for me?’

One of the biggest mistake you can make as a real estate

instead of letting the world know ‘What you do.’

Your business cards and other advertising media must
say ‘We Buy Houses’ or ‘We Buy Real Estate’ or ‘We Buy
Commercial Property,’ Whatever it is you do, say it in your
ad.

Then of course, list your contact information such as:

Phone number

Website

Fax number

email address

Wherever it is you want your customer to respond.

‘You mean that’s all there is to it?’

That’s it. Trust me, if you say it, people will call.

The next step is:

Who do they call? Do they call you? Do they call a recording?

How do you get all their information? Do I have to sit by the

phone so I don’t miss their calls?

These 10 easy steps have the power to change your life and
give you positive results. I know that you can’t wait until
tomorrow for STEP 2. Remember, only you have the power to make
your life one of achievement. Now you have some of the tools to

Strategic Planning for Fund Raising

Filed under: Business, Fundraising — Milos Pesic @ 6:54 pm

When it is the height of elections, there is unmistakably countless strategic planning for fund raising. Even if aspiring politicians detest pleading for money, they simply have to in order to support their candidacy. Yes, they may have their own resources but there are also some where their acquired wealth is not enough. Just imagine the amount that they need to come up so they can travel to different places to visit future constituents as well as print publicity materials.

Cards laid on the table says that there is the absence of strategic planning for fund raising, either one of two things will happen, it will directly be from your pocket or continue with the process without any pecuniary assistance. Well, it is absolutely alright if you have a fat bank account so you can write big checks. This was pretty much the same case with Jon Corzine when he dispensed $60 million to gain a Senate position in New Jersey. Michael Bloomberg is no other when he spent $74 million in order win the mayoralty race in New York.

Putting that you are an incumbent officer and the person running against you is virtually a nobody, with that thought, you are safe and hardly, not much requirement for a strategic planning for fund raising. However, this should not be reason to be laid back because that may be the reason for your loss. Taking chances should never be considered especially when the game is seriously played. Just take for example the story of the hare and tortoise. The hare was depending too much on the fact that he is way faster than the tortoise. Due to such, he took a short nap but little did he know, it was long and the tortoise arrived in the finish line first.

In strategic planning for fund raising, contributors play a great role as they are the ones who provide fiscal facility. Most of them are business tycoons who want to be recognized as they also have their own hidden agenda. However, that is not the focus of this topic. Going back, an estimated budget should be prepared by your treasurer so you will have an idea how much will be involved. Afterwhich, you can identify those that are potential. You can set an appointment with them over lunch perhaps so you can entirely bring to their attention your purposes. Another is to also ask from your associates or tell them to organize an event where they can gather bucks that can be used by you. You can even attend to their schedules as it also an opportunity for you to reach out to those that you will be serving soon. Since the internet is a very influential medium right now, you can send e-mail to your closest friends whom you know can be of such great help.

The History of the Flip Flop

Since it is almost impossible to quote the origination of the shoe, it is equally impossible to quote the origination of the flip flop. There are several cases in history among different culture, where the flip flop, or shoes closely similar in design are seen. Most publications seem to agree, that the history of the flip flop seems to be dominated in the Eastern culture?s history of countries like China and New Zealand. The history of the flip flop, spans far past even that, where there is evidence in the art of places like Egypt. In the hieroglyphics and other artistic pieces that derive from Egypt, many times one can notice a Egyptian figure wearing something on their feet that is close to the design of a flip flop.

However, in many of the cultures of countries such as these, you will never read or hear of the flip flop being referred to as a flip flop. The history of the flip flop begins at the sandal. Many of the earlier cultures, would refer to their shoe as the sandal, even though the design and the function of the shoe was similar to the flip flop.

Mostly, the history of the flip flop can be consider to begin when people began to refer to the sandal that had no back as the flip flop. The term ?flip flop? comes from the sound that the shoe made. These types of sandals indeed had no back that would support the ankle, or prevented the shoe from continuously detaching from the foot. People would describe the sound of the attaching and detaching as a ?flip flop?. In effect, the sandal began to be referred to as just that, the ?flip flop?.

As Western culture began to explode and spread throughout the world, the history of the flip flop seem to begin with it. The flip flop became a popular footwear for hot days, and it became and expected footwear for beach and park recreational activities. Now in the 21st Century, as fashion grows to depict styles and to create icons, the history of the flip flop is beginning to involve into something so wide range, that it is ?flip flopping? into a category all its own.

Golf Tips for the Beginning Golfer

Filed under: Golf, Recreation-and-Sports — Sarah Freeland @ 5:15 pm

Much like any other game or sport, beginner golfers look to the experts to learn the fundamentals, rules and other golf tips in order to increase the quality and enjoyment of their games. These golf tips can vary from how to prepare to play, how to effectively play throughout the game, and how to practice.

One particular golf technique teaches golfers the proper grip. This grip will reduce many beginners? tendency to slice. A good grip keeps the club head square when hitting the ball and also keeping the shaft from turning in the golfer?s hands. By holding the club in a relaxed, comfortable feel, the golfers? game success can be more assured.

Yet another golf streategy involved with preparing to tee off is concerned with setup. It is imperative that a golfer stands square — with their feet placed parallel to the target line. A closed stance will create a swing path that is inside to outside, driving a ball out of the intended path. This stance allows the athlete for more freedom for a golfer?s arms and shoulders.

When preparing a golf stance, another effective golf tip is involved with a swing path. An inside to square swing generally results in a straight shot because it encourages a hook from the club to the ball. The target line is an imaginary line that extends from the ball to the intended target. A golfer?s goal is an inside-outside swing path that ultimately moves slightly outside after impact.
