Anti Aging - Choosing The Right Product

There are a great many vitamins, minerals, etc to consider when choosing a skin care product ? especially when your aim is to reduce the signs of aging on your skin. From year to year the advice changes, one year it?s all about chemical peels and the next it?s all about microderm abrasion, and when it comes to creams it can seem a little overwhelming.

There are 2 important things to consider when deciding on an anti aging product. Firstly, the price and secondly the ingredients?

It?s no secret that the cosmetics companies make large amounts of money from sales of their products but ultimately we have to look at the price/value relationship. Many products nowadays charge premium prices but offer little in the way of value.

It came as quite a surprise to me when I first began designing our cream. I couldn?t believe that companies were either charging so little and offering so many ingredients (they were either being creative with their ingredient list, using a fraction of the ingredient instead of the most beneficial amount, or using sub-standard quality ingredients), or they were charging so much and offering so little in the way of ingredients.

I faced an important decision early on about how I would like Sezeur to develop. I believe that it?s vitally important to manufacture the best possible product and then work out the price from there. Our specialist chemists asked us how high we wanted the quality of our cream and we asked them to use only the highest quality ingredients available.

As the owner of a cosmetic company which specialises in anti aging cream, I?m inclined to believe 2 things. When it comes to budget creams, you definitely get what you pay for. When you begin to look at more expensive products I would suggest looking at the list of ingredients and also client testimonials.

Any company serious about its future understands that in order to survive and prosper it needs to have repeat sales from its clients. This is only possible if you have made a high quality product, and providing people feel they?ve received value for money they will talk about it positively.

High quality ingredients aren?t cheap and if you?re considering a product with 4 or 5 ingredients but it?s priced cheaply then be alert. It could be that the company is inexperienced and not charging enough in order to cover its manufacturing and marketing expenses, in which case it will either go bankrupt or raise its prices sharply, or it?s possible that it?s misleading you with the ingredient list.

Similarly, a product with only 1 or 2 ingredients and a premium price tag may be assuming that you don?t know too much about the industry and may be asking you to pay for the privilege of telling your friends you use ?Brand X?.

I would recommend always looking at the price vs the number of ingredients offered. Where you personally feel comfortable on that scale is down to you. Some people only want budget products and are happy to trade a bit of quality for that whilst others may want only the most expensive product without caring so much about its effectiveness because they love being able to tell their friends ?they use only the best? (ie most expensive).

A discerning mind will stand you in good stead when making your decision to purchase the right anti aging product for you. Hopefully, you now have a little more insight into this field from an owner?s viewpoint.

Benefits of Water Anti Aging

Water has been called the elixir of life and when we think about the benefits of water anti aging comes readily to mind. In an ancient Japanese legend, the hero Takenouchi no Sukune drank daily from the waters of a sacred well, and lived to be more than 300 years old. Though we may not expect to live nearly four centuries, many of us believe that regularly consuming good quality water will have a significant impact on health.

To reap the benefits of water anti aging, how much water does one need? A standard answer seems to be eight full glasses of water a day - that’s 64 ounces of water. The key to appropriate water intake, however, lies in common sense and moderation. If the weather’s hot and dry, if you are very active and sweating a lot, or if you are continually thirsty for some other reason, you will probably need more water than the average person. On the other hand, if you are well hydrated, and the weather is cool and wet, you will probably need less. Too little water leads to dehydration; too much can be life threatening as well.

So don’t overdo it. It’s not hard to keep yourself properly hydrated and add the benefits of water anti aging to your anti aging routines. Learn to interpret the messages your body is giving you. A slight headache is often the first sign of dehydration; you may also notice that your urine is concentrated and dark in color (some drugs and vitamin supplements can also give the urine a dark color), and that you are urinating less frequently. These are signs that you should drink more water. Symptoms of overhydration include behavioral changes. You may be confused and drowsy, and suffer from blurred vision and muscle cramps (overhydration is quite unusual in healthy people, but it can occur if you consume more water than your body is able to excrete).

Will any water source confer long life and good health? It’s no secret that much of the fresh water on earth is contaminated with chemicals, disease causing organisms, and other pollutants. Tap water is usually treated with chemicals to remove many of the impurities, but this results in more chemicals being added to the fresh water that comes out of our taps. None of these things contribute in a positive way to the benefits of water anti aging or health improvement. Again, common sense tells us that the water we drink should be as pure and clean as possible - a belief that has spawned a proliferation of bottled waters in the beverage market.

Bottled water, however, is not necessarily any better than tap water. It still contains chemicals and it is not necessarily sterile. It is simply water in a bottle, and incidentally, more chemicals gradually leach out of the plastic the bottle is made from, adding more impurities to the brew. People who believe bottled water is cleaner and purer than tap water are not getting what they think they are, and they are not getting any special benefits of water anti aging. Similarly, drinking distilled water is likely to do more harm than good because this water is demineralized and will deplete the body of minerals that are needed for proper functioning.

The best source of truly clean water is a water filtration system - one that will remove impurities, chemicals and microbial contaminants but not affect the normal mineral content and pH levels of the water. This is the closest practical equivalent of the legendary pure mountain spring, rising from an underground source that has never seen chemicals or pathogens. This is the water that will give you the maximum benefits of water anti aging and good health - the longevity elixir of Takenouchi no Sukune.

Antiaging Product

An antiaging product is a product that slows or reverses the natural effects of aging in the human body. While humankind has long sought the secret to eternal life, in recent years there has been a steadily increasing demand for anti aging products and medical treatments to make people look and feel younger. Though mostly ignored by medical specialists until now, the field of anti aging medicine is growing exponentially.

The most popular antiaging product is probably still topical cream for the skin. Because our skin is the visible part of us, the part we present to the world, skin is the first thing we think of when we say that someone looks old. The skin is also one of the most vulnerable body parts to the aging process: sun, wind, pollutants, and chemicals all batter the skin on a daily basis and take their toll. Anti aging skin creams and lotions, as well as hair dyes have been around for a very long time, and their ability to make us look younger is apparent, but it is only recently that skin creams have truly contained ingredients that can make a real difference. Today’s anti aging creams can actually help replace moisture and collagen and rejuvenate cellular functions - they can turn back the clock for skin.

When the focus is not on appearance, but rather on health, the chosen antiaging product is usually a dietary supplement - vitamin and mineral tablets, herbal extracts, or proprietary formulas reputed to have special anti aging benefits. Many foods have been identified as containing compounds that help the body fight the damaging effects of aging and, as such, are being marketed and consumed as antiaging products. Combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle, these products are likely to have some benefit in prolonging the years of healthy life that the average person can enjoy.

Any antiaging product should be used in conjunction with a sensible plan for healthy diet and regular activity: more than any other product or treatment, eating right and exercising have been shown to support health and vitality long into the senior years. Without these important habits, you will not reap the benefits of any antiaging product.

Of course, there are increasingly medicalized approaches to antiaging, and products and services provided by medical specialists include hormone treatments, surgical procedures, and various drugs. These treatments are controversial as they do not have the backup of rigorous scientific testing and may, in some cases, do more harm than good. The more common and longstanding antiaging products discussed above have more evidence to recommend them, and they carry less risk. If you are contemplating an invasive procedure, research the supporting evidence first and approach it with caution - and in the meanwhile, look after your skin, eat a healthy diet, get lots of exercise, and take a multivitamin and mineral supplement.

Is Your Face a Couch Potato

The latest workout craze is Facial Fitness, according to Beth Teitell, Boston Herald newspaper writer and NPR commentator. ?Your butt, it turns out, doesn?t have the only cheeks that need exercise?, she writes when interviewing Cynthia Rowland, facial fitness coach. Cynthia explains, ?There are 55 muscles in your face and neck and they atrophy from disuse. If they don?t get exercise, you are going to resemble your great-aunt Hilda.?

Finally, fitness mania is now complete with the acceptance of facial exercise as a bone fide alternative to facial plastic surgery that helps every person over the age of 25 look years younger. It?s about time, after all, for the face to be included in every exercise routine because the face has muscles just like the rest of the body.

Watch out, plastic surgeons! Cynthia Rowland is on a mission to make certain every man and woman over knows their face can be saved with resistance exercises that will lift tone and tighten every area of the face.

We see aging in our faces when nasal labial folds develop between our nose and mouth or maybe it?s a double chin that tells the world you?re aging. Each area of the face can blatantly shout that Mother Nature is having her way with your good looks as sagging and droopiness become apparent in our faces. Imagine soft, flabby facial muscles becoming strong again as pouches, forehead lines and double chins are targeted and strengthened. When you tone and firm the facial muscles, the youthful contours of your face return so you look younger, healthier and fresher.

The facial muscles are structurally different than say the muscles in our arms and legs; those muscles are long and thick plus they?re connected to bone on both ends. Muscles in the face connect to bone on one end so when exercising your face, you will need to create an artificial anchor, using your thumbs and fingers to achieve resistance. This slow and steady resistance will allow an isometric contraction to develop in the facial muscles so they lift, reshape and contour.

Resistance and isometric training are essential components to lift and tone the face with facial exercise. Not all facial exercise programs offer this type of specialized facial contouring; remember if there is no resistance, the movement is considered a contortion. These movements help your face to regain youthfulness and vitality so you appear healthier, less stressed and younger. These specialized techniques are easy to learn and once you learn them, the technology is yours forever.

There are three likely choices when you see aging in your face:

1. Do nothing and let the forces of nature continue unabated.

2. Spend your children’s inheritance on costly, painful and risky surgical procedures every few years that may or may not produce the desired effect.

3. Reclaim your natural youthful beauty with a proven facial exercise program!

If you answered yes to the question, ?Is Your Face a Couch Potato? the solution is at your fingertips! Using just your thumbs, fingers and your white exercise gloves, your face will look like it did 10-15 years ago.

Cynthia Rowland is widely recognized as an expert in all natural facial fitness with over thirty years experience in health & beauty related fields. She has appeared on The View, Fit TV, HGTV and other popular shows. This author, speaker and television personality is leading the crusade to keep men and women looking vibrantly younger through natural techniques without spending their children?s inheritance.

How To Tone Up Your Face Muscles

It’s not only bottoms that benefit from an uplift…you can put a smile back on those droopy faces, too! Droopiness can be caused by sudden weight loss, worry, tension, or simply by growing older. But you can tone up sluggish facial muscles by exercising just as you exercise your body to keep it in trim. Try these for a tone-up!

  • FOREHEAD LIFT:
Place your thumbs just in front of your ears, your forefingers on your forehead. Now push your scalp back. Try to push your scalp muscles back still further without helping with your fingers, using the muscles themselves to do all the work. Hold for a count of six and relax. Repeat ten times.
  • CHEEK LIFT: Place your first and second fingers underneath your cheekbones and press. Now smile against the pressure. Hold for a count of six and relax. Repeat five times.
  • EYE LIFT: Hold first and second fingers firmly at the outer corners of the eye. Close your eyes and blink hard, contracting the muscles around the eyes. Hold for a count of six and open eyes as wide as possible. Repeat five times.
  • JAW LIFT: Try to touch the end of your nose with your tongue–push hard, then relax. Now push the corners of your mouth down hard, hold for a count of six, then relax. Repeat both movements ten times each.

Now try this uplifting massage that the stars enjoy at expensive beauty salons. Follow these steps:

  1. Cleanse face thoroughly. Then put a little nourishing cream on our fingertips. Using both hands, apply in firm upward strokes from collar bone to jawbone.
  2. Smooth fingertips from chin to ears, then nose to temples, using a gentle, flowing movement. Do the same from the bridge of the nose up between the eyes and over the forehead.
  3. Use forefingers only to pat gently under the eyes, from the outer corners, then the inner corners and outwards over the lids.
  4. Use the backs of the hands to pat firmly under the chin moving from ear to ear. Relax and let the cream sink in thoroughly before re-applying make-up.

The Obagi Blue Peel

Obagi blue peels are on every womans list of desired skin treatments. They have received tons of publicity in recent years for their skin rejuvenation abilities and top doctors and plastic surgeons from coast to coast have made it a mainstay of their anti aging skin care programs. Below we will discuss the positive results one can expect from a Obagi Blue Peel and the limitations that are also inherent with the Obagi Blue Peel.

The Obagi Blue Peel was invented by Dr. Obagi to be an indicator that would tell the doctors where it has been applied and where it hasn?t. It was also to be formulated as a weaker peel than a straight TCA peel so it would basically self neutralize and make it a very simple procedure. That is where the peel got its name, it has a blue cream mixture that basically dyes the face and thusly indicates where it has and has not been applied. Patients are told to expect this green or blue color on their face for the next few days until it peels off and reveals fresh, more youthful skin.

The Obagi Blue Peel is actually a cream that has no active ingredients other than the dye. It is mixed by the doctor or plastic surgeon with the desired concentration of trichloroacetic acid (which is obtained separately). The trichloroacetic acid or TCA becomes the actual active ingredient that gives a mild to medium chemical burn in the first several layers of skin. The TCA breaks and disrupts cellular bonds and results in peeling of the skin and a fresh, more youthful skin. TCA treats many skin problems or conditions usually associated with aging skin like wrinkles, sun spots, freckles, etc. It is interesting to also note that TCA has been found to be one of the most effective anti acne treatments known to doctors.

The Obagi Blue Peel has two slight limitations or inconveniences, though. Many people do not want to look green like a frog for several days as it is so severe a coloring that it cannot possibly be covered up with makeup. The other is that it tends to be weaker than a straight TCA peel and requires several applications to usually equal the results of one straight TCA peel. Now, it is important to note that a straight TCA peel does not have an indicator like dye, but it does have the ability to redden or white out on most skin types. This indicates that it has penetrated deep enough for a good peel and then needs to be neutralized.

The straight TCA Peel is currently used and favored by thousands of medical doctors, dermatologists and plastic surgeons for its ability to produce desired results in less than half the time of an Obagi Blue Peel. It also usually produces more profound results and requires fewer if any subsequent treatments. The Obagi Blue Peel is a good skin peel and does produce good results, but the straight TCA peel works quicker, is usually stronger and has better and longer lasting results making it the ultimate skin peel for any anti aging skin care regimen.

Antiaging Cosmetic Product

An antiaging cosmetic product is a product that you can apply to your skin or hair to make you look younger. It may mask dark spots on the skin, conceal blemishes and wrinkles, add moisture to dry skin, or hide grey hair. It may also protect the skin from environmental stresses throughout the day. If the product has a altering effect on your skin cells, an action that literally restores physical vitality by adding moisture, building collagen, or redistributing skin pigment, it may also be referred to as a cosmeceutical.

The antiaging cosmetic product has truly come of age in the 21st century. Formerly luxury products afforded by few, these products are now routinely used by young and old alike. They range from sunscreens and sun blocks to protect skin from the harmful rays of the sun, to creams formulated with vitamins and minerals to booster cell health and reverse the damage already done to function and appearance by the insults of everyday life.

Current scientific evidence indicates that some vitamins, minerals and other compounds can literally undo some of the damage done to old skin: as the skin ages, it loses elasticity and fat, develops wrinkles, and pigment tends to become concentrated in certain areas, resulting in age spots. Topical applications of antioxidant vitamins (particularly vitamins A, E, C, and D) and minerals over an extended period of time produce visible improvement in these signs of aging. A quality antiaging cosmetic product will usually contain some of these ingredients.

Today’s well informed consumer wants proof that a product really does what it claims to do, and in response to this kind of consumer demand, scientific research is rushing to catch up. We know that blocking the sun?s rays is helpful because the majority of skin damage comes from this source. We know too that antioxidants remove free radicals, molecules produced by cell metabolism that cause cell damage - research has identified numerous antioxidants in vitamins, minerals and foods. Evidence for the efficacy of various herbal extracts is appearing as well. All of this new information makes it much easier to select an antiaging cosmetic product with confidence that it will work.

There are many products on the market now that claim to have anti aging properties, so many that choosing one becomes a difficult choice. Before you go shopping, decide what you need. A little research or a consultation with a professional cosmetician can steer you in the right direction. In the end, try to select an antiaging cosmetic product that contains ingredients for which there is solid scientific evidence. A product with a money back guarantee is a good investment, and a supplier with a good reputation is a good choice as well. Remember to give the product a chance to work - it takes years for skin damage to start showing on our faces; healing and rejuvenation take time as well.

Antiaging Skin Care Product

What do you want from an antiaging skin care product? There are as many products to choose from as there are skin problems to deal with, so before you buy, know what you need. Do you want to prevent your skin from damage so you will look young for longer, or do you want to turn back the clock on skin damage. Perhaps you are just looking for something to temporarily hide shadows, spots and wrinkles, or you may be looking for a product that will help you keep your skin healthy and comfortable.

If you are interested in covering up the telltale wrinkles, age spots, and shadows under the eyes that accumulate as the years pass, you need only consult a cosmetician and choose from the many products available. Good products and makeup techniques make it possible to cover almost any flaw so that you can face the world with confidence. But if you really want to look younger, consider buying an antiaging skin care product that will have a lasting positive effect on your skin. It’s money well spent.

An antiaging skin care product that protects the skin from damage and therefore slows the signs of aging is likely to contain a sunscreen. The sun’s rays are the most damaging environmental force for skin, so blocking harmful sunlight before it acts on skin cells is the most effective form of skin protection. Other things, such as wind and air pollution also harm the skin - a good nongreasy skin cream will provide a protective layer between your skin cells and the outside world. It’s important to look after your skin after exposure has occurred as well - after a day on the beach, the water, or the ski hill, apply a good vitamin enriched skin cream to restore moisture and sooth any irritation.

A vitamin and mineral enriched antiaging skin care product will actually repair cell damage and restore health to skin cells. People have long recognized the helpful effects of Vitamin E application to the skin, but recent evidence identifies Vitamin C as another antiaging vitamin. Vitamins A and D are also incorporated into quality skin creams, and the minerals zinc, selenium, and copper are being used as well. These vitamins and minerals collectively restore keratin structure, collagen and elasticity to the skin, smooth out age spots, and remove damaging products of cell metabolism. Some antiaging skin care products contain estrogen, a hormone that has a rejuvenating effect on the skin.

While topical anti aging creams and lotions do help the skin look younger, many people are interested in improving skin health from within - by eating healthy foods, taking anti aging supplements and maintaining a healthy exercise routine. It just makes sense that, since the body builds and maintains the skin in the first place, excellent physical health should result in healthy skin. Again, vitamins and minerals are important, as are healthy fats, and other components of a healthy diet. While a vitamin supplement specifically designed as an antiaging skin care product is hard to find, any anti aging vitamin formula will have the effect of improving skin health as it improves general health.

Antiaging Skin Care

The foundation of antiaging skin care is to protect your skin from damage as the years go by, specifically to protect it from exposure to the sun. This is very difficult for several reasons: most of us have a lot of exposure to the sun when we are small children and, in Western culture, it is both fashionable to have a suntan and a popular form of recreation to lounge in the sun on a summer day.

It’s a strange contradiction that we tend to spend a lot of time in the sun, causing premature damage to the skin, and then go to great lengths to obtain antiaging skin care treatment to reverse the damage done. By the time we are adults, we have already sustained a lot of damage to the skin, even though we are not seeing it yet. Sun damage is cumulative over the years, and doesn’t show up until later in life. Antiaging skin care, then, should start when we are very young - skin should be protected with sunscreens and sun blocks whenever we are out in the sun.

Sunlight contains various wavelengths of light ranging from infrared through visible light and into the ultraviolet range. It is the ultraviolet rays of the sun that do the majority of damage to the skin. Ultraviolet sunlight is typically dived into UV-A and UV-B rays. UV-A penetrates to deeper layers of skin and stimulates tanning, but does not burn the skin as readily, while UV-B has more superficial penetration but causes more sunburn. Both types have been implicated in cell damage and malignancies of the skin, therefore exposure to both the sun and to the UV light in tanning beds will require some level of antiaging skin care treatment.

Skin tone is created by the pigment melanin, produced by cells deep in the skin. Melanin actually protects the skin from sun damage like a naturally produced sunscreen and this is why the skin produces more melanin, turning brown, in response to exposure to sunlight. Some people have more natural melanin in the skin than others, resulting in darker skin, and these people, not surprisingly, appear to have a lower incidence of skin cancers than light skinned people. It’s not good logic however, to tan in order to produce more melanin and protect your skin from sunlight - while you are acquiring that tan, the UV rays are doing damage to your skin cells. An antiaging skin care treatment that protects your skin from sun damage is a much better approach.

In today?s world of increased life spans and abundant leisure time, it?s hard to achieve a balance between perfecting a healthy lifestyle, following the fashion trends and enjoying the pleasures of outdoor life: there?s a trade-off to be made between having that glowing tan and having younger looking skin. Hard as it is to accept, the best antiaging skin care treatment is to stay out of the sun. Period.

Biological Entropy Away From Chronological Age

Living a full life is not achievable by so many people, and aging is the ghost that may prevent them realize their dreams. Interest in discussing aging has been widely spread since the debate began to be based on scientific findings.

Entropy is by definition ‘a measure of randomness or disorder of a system’, and this is what exactly happens in the vital molecules in the body upon aging. If we are to resist aging, the first thing we need is to know the type and mechanism of distortion in the concerned molecule(s) , so as to guard against the distorting effect.

If we can restore the normal form of a distorted molecule, then aging can be made a reversible process, the concept that is thought to be impossible by many people including those scientists that believe that aging is a programmed process, however I think that the progress molecular biology is proceeding now would make it possible to reverse aging a bit by bit.

FEATURES of AGING:

There is a chronological age ( the age in years), and a biological age which can be expressed by the entropy that occurs in different systems leading to a disease in one or more systems. The more the number of diseases or its severity, the more is the likelihood of coming closer to the end.

There are biomarkers of aging that are frequently associated with an increased age, but not necessarily indicate a debilitated condition or an increase in the likelihood of mortality. For example when hair gets entropy it cracks and entrap air leading to graying, it resembles a symptom of aging, yet it doesn’t increase the likelihood of mortality (I know some persons with graying at 30).

Candidates for being biomarkers include: Cross-linking of collagen (skin wrinkles)-Insulin resistance (Diabetes)-Lung expiration capacity but,as yet, no biomarkers of aging have been validated and universally accepted, each individual can recognize his own.

Symptoms of Biological Aging include:

Loss of hearing capacity- Decline in the ability to taste salt and bitter ( sweet and sour are less affected)-Increased level of antibodies- Arthritis- Increased ( doubled) need for Insulin-Loss of teeth- Decreased receptors for Growth factors&hormones (and decreased secretion of these hormones as well)- More strong DNA strands binding-Weight decline due to loss of lean tissue, water, and bone- Increased body fat- Declined muscle strength for men- More frequent light and short sleep,..with a reduction in rapid eye movement(REM) sleep-25%decrease in fat saturation in the brain of old animal-Presbyopia(reduced ability to focus close-up objects)-Cataract- Disability(defined as the inability to use public transportation).

Over 75% of people over 85 have 3-9 pathological conditions.

Writing about causes of aging needs a distracted discussion which may need one or more articles. Stay tuned.
