How a Blog Can Benefit Your Website

Ok, so the latest craze on the Internet is ?blogging?. I?m sure you?ve heard of it. If you have not heard of blogging, then maybe you?ve heard of a blog. If you?re still unsure what I?m talking about then maybe you should get out more.

Ok, I?m seriously just kidding. A Web log or ?blog? is a personal website consisting of regularly updated entries displayed in reverse chronological order. Blogs read like a diary or journal, but with the most recent entry at the top. Web logs or blogs are a type of Web content typically created by independent writers (although some reporters for media companies create blogs on newspaper or magazine sites). Some blogs are personal journals; others resemble newsletters or columns. Sometimes, they contain links to other sources of content and other times they are the main source of content like on this site. The website you are on right now (www.theebusinessresource.com) is a blog.

So why are blogs so cool? Why is everyone blogging these days? Well in my opinion, it all comes to two main factors. First, blogs are very easy to setup, maintain and add content entries with minimal web experience necessary. There are many descent blogging software tools that allow you to effortlessly setup and maintain a blog all on your own. My favorite is Wordpress. Wordpress offers you an easy and powerful way to start blogging right away? plus it?s free! The second reason in my opinion, why people blog, is because it provides them with a great means to add more content for their website. As we all know, content rules the Internet. With more content, you are guaranteed to receive more exposure, hence why I believe so many people are blogging these days.

Ok, so now you might be thinking to yourself, ?Maybe I can start a blog and easily add more content to my website.? If you?re thinking this, this is good. So if you?re considering a blog for your website, let me ask you a few questions first before you dive in head first.

  1. Do you have a topic that you feel comfortable to write about on a regular basis?
  2. Are you knowledgeable enough on this specific topic to be writing articles on the Internet?
  3. Do you have the time in your busy schedule to create an article or more every week?

These are the three basic questions to help you determine if a blog is for you. If you?ve answered ?No? to any of these questions, then a blog is definitely not suitable for you. You must be comfortable and knowledgeable about your topic as well as have the time in your schedule to operate a blog of your own. However, if you?ve answered ?Yes? to all three questions, then I would highly recommend creating a blog for your website. Why? Because it will provide you with the following benefits:

  • More content = more exposure - Adding more content to your site will ultimately lead to more visits, hence more exposure.
  • Credibility on your chosen topic ? Writing articles on your topic could cause you to build a reader base that will continue to come back to your site to read more about your topic.
  • Increased business ? As you receive more exposure and begin to build your credibility, you will be sure to increase your business and gain qualified business leads. It?s a great marketing resource.
  • Knowledge ? By writing about your topic every week, you will be sure to stay abreast on the latest trends and news relating to your topic.
  • Fun ? Blogging offers you something different, a way to break up your day. If you have a blog, then enjoy it and have fun with it.

Well I hope I?ve provided you with some basic information on what a blog is and how it can benefit your website. If you think that a blog is for you and fits into the idea of your website then go for it? create your own blog, start blogging and enjoy it!

I wish you much success!

Videoblogging (Vlog) ? The Next Internet Craze

Ok, so by now we all know what a blog is and many of us run and operate a blog of our very own. But have you heard of a vlog? If not, no worries, it’s something that has been around for less than one year. A vlog, or video blog, is a weblog which uses video as its primary presentation format. It is primarily a medium for distributing video content. Vlog posts are usually accompanied by text, images, and additional meta data to provide a context or overview for the video. Vlogs or videoblogs are created by vloggers or videobloggers, while the act itself is referred to as vlogging or videoblogging.

So as you can see, it’s a branch off of a blog but instead of writing content like I’m doing now, users present their information through some type of video format. This new version of blogging is intriguing to many because users find it more interesting than reading through pages of content. They would rather spend 10 minutes watching a video of someone rather than read an article. I myself like both blogs and vlogs. To me it depends on the topic that is being depicted. If the topic is how to bake chocolate chip cookies (mmmm), then I’d rather watch a vblog of someone actually making the cookies and talking me through it. However, if it’s a topic on how Google just launched their new news archive search, then I would rather read a blog then have to watch and listen to someone talk about it for 10 minutes.

If you are interested in making your own vlog, then Freevlog.org explains how to videoblog for free and Feevlog.org explains how to videoblog for a fee. Also, Typepad.com and Blip.tv are simple turnkey solutions to consider. If you’re interested in watching and commenting on other people’s vlog works, then you can subscribe to FireAnt.com or Mefeedia.com.

I’m very interested to see where vlogging takes us. I’m quite sure in the next year or two we will see a few vlogs become famous because of their content. We’ve seen it happen with blogging. Many sites such as Fark, TechCrunch, BoingBoing, Gizmodo, and PopSugar are already or on track to make millions of dollars through their blogs. It’s a new advertising medium for companies and vlogging now adds a whole new sphere (vlogosphere) to this element.

At Hudson Horizons, we provide website Content Management conversion for the small to mid-sized business to easily allow our clients the ability to manage the data of their website on a day-to-day basis.

How To Make Money With Blogs

Filed under: Blogging, Internet-and-Businesses-Online — Sylvia White @ 9:50 am

Money making blogs are fast becoming the top earners for thousands of people.

How to make money with blogs is quite a simple procedure and it can easily become a full time job working at home.

It is very unlikely that you have never heard of a blog but in case your in the dark her are the simple facts.

It is simply like keeping a diary you write a long or short version every day about whatever interests you.

The internet is full of facts, take for instance the Wikpedia encyclopedia it contains facts about every thing under the sun and if you are stumped for ideas just go and take a look.

You can find a blog website anywhere on the internet and they are free to join and won’t cost you a single cent. Its a great bonus as you don’t need a domain name and hosting is free.
An excellent site is Sir Look it is so simple to use and it gives you loads of information on what to do to make money.

To write money making blogs, keywords are of great importance so when you decide what your subject is to be you need to go to a website like http://www.goodkeywords.com/. you can download this absolutely free it will be your most important link to blogs.

Let us say your blog is about your favourite pet an Alsatian. That will be your main keyword (Alsatian) so you put that in the section to find your list of keywords.
Each keyword will tell you how many times it was searched for in the last month so you can choose a list of keywords to place in your meta tags and the most important to you in your title.

Another good use for it is that if you get stuck for ideas on what to write about just place a keyword in the search engine search box and all sorts of info will come up about your subject.

Below is the steps to take to get started:

Step 1. Decide on something you would like to write about, it might be a favourite hobby or to do with business, it might even be about the daily happenings in your family life. In fact anything at all that interests you.

Step 2. Choose a blog site.
Step 3. Join up free
Step 4. Decide on a name for your blog using your main keywords.
Step 5. Choose from the templates they provide as your blog background.
Step 6. Write your first blog.

Now you will need to edit your template you will find instructions on where to go on the website. first of all add the title and a meta tag with the description of your blog using the keywords you have chosen. this is usually placed right next to the title.

Now to make money join Google Adsense program you will find easy instructions on the site explaining what steps to take.
Place the adsense ads html in the template section below body, you can check if it is placed right by pressing review. If it is not correct then play about trying different places until it comes up correctly. I found this was the easiest way with my first effort.

You now have your money making blog, but the next step is to add your blog url to the blog directories, again just put blog directories into the search to find a full list will come up.

Each time you ad a post to your blog you then ping and the directories will receive your new posting. This is easy in the Sir Look blog as it is part of their site. It sends pings to main directories.

Once you have your first blog up and running it is time to go on to your second, you can have as many money making blogs as you wish, some people are making thousands of dollars a week doing this.

If you decide it is to be your full time job then do as many as you can manage in one day.
You can expect to wait about three months to start making money but that is much quicker than waiting for your website to rank well.

Discover Ways To Earn Money Online Using A Blog

Filed under: Blogging, Internet-and-Businesses-Online — Loretta Miller @ 5:40 pm

There are several ways you can earn money using a blog. One way is with Affiliate Sales which is promoting another person’s product where you get paid a commission. Another way is with Adsense which is where you have advertisements for other people’s products put on your blog and you are paid when a visitor clicks on this ad. Yet another way is with direct sales where you are selling your own product or a product that you have the resale rights to.

If your plan of action is to use Affiliate Sales, you need to find two or three related affiliate programs to join. A few of the places to check for affiliates is Clickbank, Commission Junction or PayDotCom. There are several others that are also available. You can find these by use one of the search engines such as Google. To get traffic to your site, you can write articles pertaining to the niche that you are designing your blog around or you could write reviews pertaining to the affiliate program that you are promoting. If you are going to write a review, give an honest review. Point out the main features or benefits of the product, but also list any drawbacks of the product. You will earn the respect of your visitor if your review is honest.

If you are using direct sales of your own product, you can either sell directly from your blog or direct your visitor to your website or online store. Either way, you would proceed using the same method. Write articles regarding the product or products that you are promoting or have resale rights to, or write a review. Again, be sure the review is honest. You want your visitors to become regular, repeat visitors.

If you plan on using your blog for Adsense, the easiest way is to use Google’s Adsense program. You need to set up your blog targeting one niche or topic. Let’s say you start a blog regarding pets. Google would then place ads on your site that pertain to all types of pets. For example, they could put an ad on your blog pertaining to dogs, cats, horses, fish, snakes, pet supplies or even veterinary services. The amount you earn depends a lot on the amount of traffic you receive. One of the best ways to get traffic is to write articles and publish them on your blog and by submitting them to the article directories. Another way would be to post comments on one of the various forums pertaining to pets. By adding your blog URL in your signature block, you will be creating back links to your blog. This method of obtaining advertisers requires very little work on your part. You just have to keep the blog updated with current information to keep visitors coming for more.

Another way to obtain advertisers for your Adsense blog is to obtain them yourself. You sell the advertising directly to companies who want to place a sponsored ad or link on your blog. They may also want to place a banner ad. While this method is more time consuming, it can also earn you more money because you keep all of the revenue. There is no dividing or splitting the revenue with Google or anyone else. The main problem with this method is that you need to have a large amount of traffic coming to your blog before you will find many companies that would be interested in advertising with you. To obtain the traffic, you use the same method of writing articles and submitting them to the article directories, and by posting comments on various forums related to your niche.

It doesn’t matter what type of blog you want to have. In order to maintain a continuous flow of traffic, you need to keep the search engines happy by continually updating the information on it. Always make sure that the content is of high quality, is unique, is pertinent, and most of all informative. The search engines will love your blog if you keep them well fed with great information. The more you feed them, the more they will visit. The more they visit, the higher your blog placement will be on the result pages.

Video Blogging - Is it the Future?

Filed under: Blogging, Internet-and-Businesses-Online — Leroy Brown @ 7:15 pm

Everywhere you look, more and more people are jumping aboard the video blogging bandwagon. Matt Cutts, Google?s own SEO expert, has done quite a few video blog posts lately. Just this morning, I read a post at Problogger about blogging tutorials - in video format, called Tubetorial. Some are saying that video blogging is the future of blogging, and that one day that will be the only way to read blogs.

I think that video blogging is more of a fad, or perhaps a niche market. Some people do enjoy the personalization that video blogging offers - so I?m fairly certain that video blogging is here to stay. However, I?m not convinced that there?s a big market for these types of blogs. You are probably wondering why I say this. Why would a person rather read paragraphs rather than watch an entertaining video? Don?t more people watch the news rather than read the newspaper?

Video blogging, by it?s very nature, isn?t a very friendly format. For example - I cannot watch video blog posts from my Treo smartphone - that?s a real problem. Often that?s how I access my RSS reader, or individual blogs. You Tube and Google Videos don?t yet work on many mobile devices, and certainly not efficiently. I also cannot view video blog posts at work. Let?s face it - many people spend some of their work day doing personal things - such as reading blogs. Video and sound do not lend themselves to inconspicuousness. ( I think that?s the biggest word I?ve ever used in a sentence. ) For those people not fortunate enough to have internet access at home, video blogs are not very appropriate for places like public libraries, and other public internet access areas.

In closing, video blogging is an interesting trend - but it?s not the future of blogging. Good old fashioned text is - because it works.

How Can I Make Money With Blogs

Filed under: Blogging, Internet-and-Businesses-Online — Loretta Miller @ 12:40 am

Blogging for profit is a goal many people hope to be able to obtain. This endeavor is not out of reach for someone with a willingness to work and who has a knowledge of blogging. Very few people, however, ever obtain the profits they want from their blog because they fail to have a plan.

There are two reasons most people who try to make money with their blogs do not succeed. One reason is that bloggers often think that ‘if I build it, they will come’. This expectation is unrealistic. They often expect their readership to grow immediately and begin producing money just as quickly. This just does not happen. The other reason is that a lot of bloggers fail to have a realistic plan. The key to making money as a blogger is to have a realistic plan and sticking with it. When these expectations are not met, this disappointment often puts an end to their willingness to continue blogging. Some think that blogging is more ‘work’ than they thought it would be. If you want to make money using blogs, you have to treat is as a business and a business requires work.

To be a success at earning money with blogs, you will need a lot of traffic. The more traffic that comes to your blog, the more likely you are to make sales. However, obtaining the regular visitors that you need isn’t easy. Because more blogs are started each and every day, there is a lot of competition. You need to keep your content fresh, unique, informative and interesting. Once people know that you have content on your blog that is updated regularly with useful information, they will return to your site. However, as mentioned above the ‘if I build it, they will come’ approach just doesn’t happen.

You also have to market your blog. You can have the most interesting and informative information there ever was put on a blog, but if you don’t get visitors to your blog, who is going to read it. If you have a brick-and-mortar business, you advertise. A blog needs to be treated the same, you advertise.

You need to spend time getting your blog noticed. Take some time to visit other blogs and making a comment or visit forums related to your blog and make a post. Always be helpful and informative, and be sure to add your blog address with your signature, thereby creating a link to your blog.

If you’re an affiliate, try writing a review of the affiliate product you are marketing. You might find that it will get added to the products sales page if the review is honest and informative. Again, be sure to add your blog address with your signature.

It may take several months to build the traffic to make your blog profitable. Make a realistic plan and stick with it. To keep on track, make a daily schedule. Spend a set amount of time adding content to your blog, writing articles, visiting other blogs, visiting forums, and, if you are an affiliate, reviewing products to promote. Set a goal and when that goal is reached, set another one. Don’t set unrealistic goals as this will only discourage you. Don’t get discouraged, it takes time to build traffic to get the readers you want.

Earning money with blogs is a business. It takes time and patience to build a successful blog. It doesn’t matter if you are a marketing genius or have the best blog on the internet, success takes time. Staying motivated and setting goals will reward you with success.

Blogging Is The Ultimate Marketing Tool For The 21st Century

Filed under: Blogging, Internet-and-Businesses-Online — Allen Taylor @ 11:35 am

Blogging has become quite the popular sport. People blog the news, sports, politics, their personal lives, and even business. But should you?

As a marketing tool, there?s no question that blogging is a powerful tool. But is it right for everyone? Probably not. However, it is a great way to add valuable content to most web sites.

The popular search engines ? Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask ? expect webmasters to update their web sites frequently. In fact, one of the best ways to climb in search engine rankings is to keep those sites updated with fresh content. Blogs provide that content so naturally and effectively.

Blogs don?t have to be huge tomes to be successful. In fact, some of the best and most successful blogs are short and sweet. A well-written short blog is actually better than a long, boring Moby Dick-like piece that no one wants to read. Fifty words with two or three dashes of a useful keyword phrase will score big points with the search engines, and if it is useful information for your target audience then you?ll also gain ground with those human visitors you want to turn into customers. Do that three to seven times a week for a year and you?ll have a web site that search engines can?t say ?No? to.

It won?t even take a full year. You can build a successful and useful web site in three to six months with valuable blogging that inspires, entertains and enlightens your readers into being valuable, paying customers.

If you do see blogging as a part of your marketing future, don?t develop a narrow view of the skill. It takes more than just throwing out a few phrases and keywords to make a successful blog. You must ensure you are communicating with your audience so ask them what information they want to see and provide them with benefits. And blogging doesn?t just have to mean writing your journals online either. There are two other forms of blogging that are gaining more popularity every day. Which you use depends on your company?s goals, personality, and vision.

Audio blogging and video blogging can be powerful forms of communication. Again, they aren?t for everyone but don?t rule them out. Are you a singer or someone who makes a living with their voice? If so, you might consider a blog that incorporates audio. Maybe not every day, but in some kind of creative and useful way that promotes your voice skills so that potential customers can evaluate your voice and audio technique.

This principle also applies to video blogging. Perhaps you are a struggling actor or video engineer. If one of your core competencies involves corporate video production then video blogging could help sell your services. It?s worth considering, don?t you think?

Blogging is here and so is the 21st century. This powerful marketing strategy can be of benefit to almost any business. I?d encourage you to check it out.

Blogs to Riches?

Filed under: Blogging, Internet-and-Businesses-Online — Rupert Macia @ 12:15 am

Looking to jump on the blog-bandwagon? It may look like easy money, but in reality it isn’t. There are many pitfalls if you don’t know what your doing. Getting popular on the blogosphere is no easy trick. You have to be up for the challenge, and you need to know some things before you start blogging for money.

First of all, do not use someone else’s platform to blog. The best idea is to get your own domain. Without your own, you don’t actually own your blog. You are stuck with their platform, even if it turns out that you don’t like it. If you risk a move to a whole new site, you will have to start all over from scratch and you will most likely lose your following. To profit from a blog, you need a steady crowd, otherwise it’s pointless.

You should plan your blogging. Don’t just jump into it. Invest in quality blogging software. Make friends with other bloggers. This is not only great for your promotion, but you can exchange links while promoting each other’s sites. Research the market and find out what’s hot and what’s not. Don’t just copy someone elses style, create your own that has a clear aim toward a narrow niche. Find that specialized unique subject that the other bloggers haven’t thought of yet.

Your own opinion will sell. Don’t be afraid to sound controversial, it’s alright. That is what will draw the audience. Which brings me to another point: set up your blog so that others can add comments. Making an interactive blog is what people like. Make sure your linked pages have an easy way to get back to your home page for easy navigation, and so they won’t get lost and forget what your site looks like.

The tedious part is keeping fresh blogs regularly. A truly money making blog will have current posts at least five times a week. It’s your own database that needs constant refreshing. You have to be willing to put in the time to keep things circulating.

Make your posts attractive. You can dress them up with pictures and images that will draw their attention and make it more interesting than just some words on a page. Try to come up with some that will stir an emotional response. Try to really touch your audience.

After reading all this you might be disenchanted. If you aren’t and really want to dive into the adventure, remember that the blog market has grown exponentially, but there is no telling how long it will last. It’s a waste of time to try to get rich by blogging. If that is your goal, then you are probably at a loss. Blogging is a new fad and everyone is doing it. If you want to blog for money it is extremely time consuming to keep them fresh and to post all the time. You have to make sure that the people that started coming to read your blogs keep coming and you have to keep a steady stream of new comers, plus you need ads to keep your income rolling. All things considered, if you have the time and money to put into it, along with creativity and lots of opinions, go for it. Don’t forget that every big wave comes crashing down eventually.
