If you sprang for sleepwear for number twelve you might want to go with something else or with the modern gift idea. However, lace is not just for sleeping.
Just like you have linen tablecloths, which was part of anniversary number twelve, you also have lace tablecloths. Just remember, lace is a lot more expensive than linen, generally. Of course, it all depends on the tablecloth itself and the pattern. Just be prepared to spend a few bucks on this lovely gift.
Another thing that’s made out of lace is curtains. If you have old curtains in your home, which by year twelve they are, then you might want to spring for a new set. Just make sure you measure carefully before you buy or have somebody come in and do it for you. The last thing you want is for your curtains not to fit.
And, if you want to do something really unusual for your wife without having to spend a lot of money, take her to a lace museum. Yes, they really do have them. Once there, she can look around and if she sees something she likes you might want to think about getting it for her at some future time.
Of course, if you really want to impress your lady, skip the traditional gift all together and head right for the modern idea which just happens to be fur. That’s right guys. Here is where you get the chance to buy your wife her first fur coat. But take my advice. Don’t try to surprise her with this. Take her down to be fitted and let her pick out the fur that she wants. Way too much can go wrong with picking out a fur coat that is just beyond the scope of this article. Old furs can be too dry and they can come apart easily. In addition, if the coat doesn’t fit just right, especially if it is too tight, the seams can come apart. Oh and just so you know, if you already don’t, a good fur coat can run you thousands of dollars.

If you’re looking for an anniversary gift for your fourteenth anniversary, look no further. We’re going to go over both the traditional and modern day gifts for this special occasion. You should have very little trouble finding just the right gift for your spouse.
The traditional gift idea for number fourteen starts off with something that you should have no trouble with in finding something that will bring a smile to your spouse’s face. Ivory is your traditional gift of choice for this day. Now before you go thinking that this means you have to run off and buy your spouse a baby grand piano, there are other things made of ivory.
While we’re on the subject, let’s take a look at that piano. If by some chance, your spouse is an accomplished pianist and that old upright is starting to fall apart, you might actually want to consider getting a new piano. Yes, it’s a big-ticket item, but you’re only one year away from a milestone anniversary so why not splurge? The new piano doesn’t have to be a grand or even a baby grand. If a piano or other such keyboard is out of your price range, you might want to consider some of the other lovely things in this world that are made out of ivory in whole or at least in part.

Believe it or not, you’ve reached another milestone. A fifteenth anniversary is a very special time. You’ve been married almost as long as it takes to out a child through grammar school and high school. So the least you should do is make sure that you get your spouse a gift that fits the occasion. You may want to spring for a nice crystal vase that you can put some flowers in. Even better, you can make sure you order the flowers with the vase so that when you give your lovely gift to your wife, she’ll have something that she can not only admire, but smell all at the same time. Talk about killing two senses with one gift.
If you’re afraid that crystal is just going to be a little too delicate to have around your home, you might want to go with the modern gift idea of watches. If you haven’t already sprung for a gold watch or pocket watch for the previous anniversary, you might want to consider it for this one. A pocket watch is a very rare and beautiful gift. Of course, if you don’t want to get anything too expensive, you can just go for your standard type of watch. With today’s technology, there are plenty to choose from including some nice digital watches that do everything but cook your breakfast.

Starting with your sixteenth anniversary, anniversary gifts start getting a little harder to get because things change drastically with this anniversary. We’re going to explain what the change is, why it changed and what your options are for a sixteenth anniversary gift.
Your first fifteen years are over and now you’re into the area where you only get a traditional gift idea every five years. So your next traditional gift idea doesn’t come around again until your twentieth anniversary. Why? This will sound like a strange answer but it is what it is. Flatware are dishes that lay flat, like a flat plate. Hollowware is a dish or item that is not flat, like a bowl. Got it?

Pitchers, teapots and trays are also considered hollowware. Just make sure whatever you get has some silver in it or around it. Looking for an anniversary gift for your seventeenth anniversary? Well, if that’s the case, it’s time to look around the house. Why? Because this is the year to buy furniture. And since this is such a broad category, you will certainly have more than enough ideas to choose from. Need help in deciding? These tips should give you a hand.
Since there is no traditional gift idea for this anniversary, the list makers were kind enough to at least give us a broad enough category so that we don’t go crazy trying to figure out what to get our spouse. Still, there is some thought that needs to go into purchasing this anniversary treasure.
For starters, look around your house and pick out all the pieces of furniture that have probably outlived their usefulness. After 17 years of marriage, you are certain to have at least a couple of pieces that are pretty much on their way out. Make a list of all of these pieces. This doesn’t mean you are going to replace them all. This is just to give you something to choose from.
The next thing you want to do is look through your house and make a note of the things that you don’t have. Maybe you always wanted to get a china cabinet, but because you didn’t actually get any china until a couple of years ago, you never bothered. Make a note of all these ‘missing’ pieces and add them to the list.
What you then want to do is decide which is more important. If you’re couch is falling apart and is about to be something that you can no longer sit in, it is probably more important that you get a replacement couch than something that you have been living without for 17 years. Another year without it is probably not going to kill you.
After your list is complete, the next thing you want to do is take a look at your budget and see what you can afford. If you’ve decided to go with replacing an old piece that is falling apart but only have a couple hundred bucks to spend, then getting a brand new couch that can easily cost you a grand or more is probably out of the question unless you can find a good deal somewhere.
However, for those of you with big bucks to spend, there is nothing that will bring a bigger smile to you wife’s face than to surprise her with a brand new living room set. That’s right, the whole set. Coffee table, end tables, couch and whatever else you want to fit in it. Just make sure that the delivery men come on a day when she is not going to be home so she can really be surprised when she walks through the front door and sees that her living room is completely new.
Certainly, with a category like furniture, you should have no trouble finding your spouse a gift that will make an impression and last at least another 17 years.

If you’re of legal age in most states when you’re 18, then for your eighteenth anniversary it should be legal to get any anniversary gift you want. Unfortunately, if you want to stick to the rules, you can’t do this. So you’re stuck with the only choice for number 18, since there are no traditional gifts for this day. Enter the modern gift of porcelain.
Fortunately, there are many things made out of porcelain. These are not cheap gifts, mind you, but your choices are in a great abundance. Just get ready to go to the store with an open mind and an open wallet or a credit card with some decent credit left on it.
Most things porcelain are made for the dining room or living room. For example, you can get a nice pair of porcelain fruit bowls. If you’re tired of the traditional white porcelain, you can actually get these in nice colors like red. Most will be hand crafted and thus come with a big price tag.
Centerpieces are a big thing for the dining room table during a family meal on the holidays. You can get small tureen with plate that is adorned with 24 carat gold. You can get one of these decorated with flowers all around if you like. You can put just about any kind of food in the tureen if you like.
While smoking is not as in as it once was, if your spouse is a smoker, you can replace all the ashtrays in the house with porcelain ashtrays. If you get a few that are nice enough, your spouse may just give up smoking because of the fear of ruining the ashtrays.
Of course, if you want to get something that is totally impractical and just for show, you can splurge for some porcelain statues. These are very common in novelty shops and gift shops. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on these, though some go for several hundred dollars or more. These statues come in just about every shape and size, in human and in animal form.
If you want to work your way into the bathroom, you can get your spouse a nice porcelain toilet set. These usually come in multi piece sets covering a wide range of items including perfume bottles, combs, brushes and mirrors. These pieces are very delicate, so handle with care.
Another thing you can get is porcelain picture frames. These come in all shapes and sizes for those odd sized photos. The frames themselves range from very plain to very well adorned and obviously the price tags for each go along with them.
Finally, you can pick yourself up, or your spouse, a porcelain basket. You can put just about anything in these baskets and they also come in all kinds of shapes and sizes.
If you put your mind to it, you’ll discover that there are quite a few things made of porcelain and you should have no trouble finding just the right anniversary gift for your eighteenth anniversary.

The return gift for this year is something made out of bronze. Originally one of two traditional gifts for anniversary number eight, it is now you’re only option this year. So if you sprung for a bronze made gift eleven years ago, then you’re going to have to dig really hard to come up with something different this year. Don’t worry, we have you covered.
Before we get into this, there is one thing you better know right up front. A nice bronze oriented gift is going to cost a lot of money, especially if you go for one of the more popular bronze gift ideas, the bronze statue.
There are more bronze statues than you can possibly imagine. Many of these are designed after very old or even ancient themes. For example, you can get a bronze Feng Shui statue for about $1,000. No, that’s not a typo. Of course, if you want, you can get what they call a faux bronze statue. This is a statue that is made out of cold cast resin. Technically, it’s probably not a real bronze gift, but if you can’t afford the real thing and want to get your spouse something close, this is as close as you’re going to get.
Most bronze statues are custom made. At least the really good ones are. Yes, if you want, you can head on down to the local gift shop and pick up something for twenty bucks, but it’s not going to have the same effect. And after nineteen years of marriage, your spouse deserves something a lot better.
Of course, if you think the Feng Shui statue was a lot of money, you might cringe at the thought of getting your spouse a Celadon Prunus Vase. This is one absolutely gorgeous piece. It also comes with a price tag of about $2,400. Or you might want to go with a White Dragon incense burner. You’re going to have to get a price quote for one of these things.
You might want to go with a simple bronze dish and lid with a geometric pattern. You can practically steal one of these for about $1,900. Or you might want to go with a simple bronze dish that you can have made with a design of your choice. This will only set you back about $500.
Whoever said that anniversary gifts weren’t expensive, didn’t make it to anniversary number nineteen. But, with a little thought and open mind and a credit card that isn’t yet maxed out, you can actually pick up a gift that won’t break you and make your spouse one very happy married person.

All kidding aside, fine china is one of the nicest gifts you can get for your wife. There’s something about china that makes it special, aside from the cost of a really nice set. Maybe it’s the old tradition of mothers passing down their old china to their daughters when they get married. Many times the china that is actually passed down came from your grandmother and not your mother. That is why it is not unheard of to go to somebody’s house and sit down to a meal served on a china set that is over 100 years old. Some traditions die hard. This is one of them.
Of course, not all china has to be something that you can eat off. If your wife already has that nice set handed down from mother, you might want to get her a nice china figurine. Figurines come in all shapes and sizes including palm trees, religious figurines, china angels and even some very strange looking china critters. More likely than not, they’ll probably just end up on a shelf somewhere forming spider webs, but they are nice to look at.
If you’d prefer to save yourself the expense of fine china, you had better think again because the modern gift idea for this anniversary is platinum. If you’ve never even seen anything made out of platinum, you may have some trouble thinking of something to get, especially when you don’t even know what things are made of platinum. No problem. You’ve somehow survived the expense of your twentieth anniversary. Now it’s one year later and you’re in the market for an anniversary gift for your twenty-first anniversary. You’re hoping that this year won’t run you as much money. Well, you’re in luck. You can’t get much cheaper than this year’s modern anniversary gift idea. The problem is, you may not know what to get when you hear what it is. Don’t worry. We’ll give you more than enough ideas to get your spouse something nice. Even if it is cheap.
The modern day gift ideas for this anniversary are brass or nickel. Let’s start with nickel first.
Yes, you can. Why not? Think it’s crazy? Not at all. A rare nickel collection would be a big surprise to your spouse. Just head down to the local coin collector and pick out a couple dozen rare nickels. You might want also to add to that collection one nickel for the year you were married and one nickel for each of your birth years. While this is a much cheaper gift than last year’s china or platinum, be careful A really rare nickel, if you can even find one, can run you into hundreds if not thousands of dollars. You probably want to stick with coins that run about $10 a piece. This way you can get a 20 coin collection for about $200. Not too shabby a gift at all.
If coins aren’t your thing, there are other items that are made out of nickel that you can choose from. The truth is, many metals are made at least in part out of nickel. For example. You can get your home a new tinted glass window. Why? Because the tint of the glass is partially made out of nickel. Because so many metal products contain some nickel in them, just about any item made out of metal would be an appropriate gift for this day.
If the nickel idea doesn’t quite do it for you, then you might want to go with the other modern day gift idea, which is brass. Need some ideas? No problem. Got a musician in your house? One who plays the trumpet? How about a new trumpet for his or her anniversary. Of course. Why do you think they’re called brass instruments? They are all at least partially made of brass if not entirely. Just about any kind of horn is made out of brass.
If you don’t have a musician living with you, there are other things made of brass that you can get. How about a new brass door knocker for your front door? Maybe you can get your wife a nice brass dinner bell so that when she calls you for dinner, you’ll actually hear her for a change. If you’re a drinker, a nice brass bottle opener can be a cool gift. If you like the sound of chimes, some brass chimes hanging outside could do the trick.
Between nickel and brass, you should have no trouble getting a gift that won’t break the bank this year.
