Secrets for Your Heart and Magically Create

I heard the story of this person? she was very unhappy? stressed, feeling depressed, anxious, angry, lonely, hopeless, struggling?just surviving?but then?

She had been told that life was a struggle and she had to work hard to earn money ?that everything had to be earned?that nothing was free?nothing was given?that money did not grow on trees?so she was burning herself out.

She had been told she was lucky to have a job and she had better hold on tight to it, but she did not like it?actually she hated it?she was completely unfulfilled.

She was in a relationship where she was not happy. She did not feel loved and she was not treated properly; but she had been told she might not find another person?better that than being alone?but she was so unhappy?

She had been told she could not know what destiny would bring her?that she could not control the future?that she had to live the moment?so she was drinking too much, eating a lot, doing too much, she thought that that was the way to enjoy life. But she was feeling more and more off-centre and her life was more and more out of control?her health was getting poor, she had no energy and she was getting depressed because she could never achieve what she wanted?her dreams. She started to think that maybe she had no right to her dreams?maybe what she wanted was just not achievable.

She had been told life is hard, it is tough, and so she had to be tough, and she could not believe she would ever receive anything for free. She believed that if she did not achieve her goals it simply meant she had not worked hard enough?pro-noia was quite impossible to believe in?

She had been told to be wary of people?so she could not believe in goodness, she could not trust, and so she could not feel the warmth she desired.

She had been told she had to behave in a certain way to be accepted by society. She tried to do it but she felt so empty inside, as if she was betraying herself, trying to be someone she was not, missing out on the thrill of being herself. So she tried to stop conforming, but then she felt so different. Her self-esteem became very low, as people told her there was something wrong with being her? she was different? so she started becoming socially anxious?and she believed there was something wrong with being her?and she started beating herself up?

She had been told the past determines the future. She was born in a poor and dysfunctional family and she had emotional problems caused by this, and limiting beliefs. She so wanted to be free?to be well?but she had been told the only way to get free is to struggle, so she was struggling?but the more she struggled, the more she was kept back.

She was very beautiful, but she didn’t like herself; she actually hated herself and kept beating herself up.

She had extraordinary gifts, qualities and talents, but she couldn’t see them?she thought she was nobody?worthless.

She felt so powerless?with destiny out of control?

She felt so lonely and unloved?

And she was struggling to live?to survive?and the more she struggled, the more struggles she met, the more she became convinced that life really was a struggle.

But one day she heard a story?they told her there was an old man in town, extremely wealthy, very successful, in extraordinary health for his age (and he was 98) ?and he was so happy, with such inner freedom, peace and love. He had been happy all his life and he had a wonderful life, he loved every bit of it. Everything was so easy, so effortless; he achieved everything he wanted?even much more he could have ever dreamt of? He was in town with his wife. They had been married for 75 years, true soul mates, and still so in love?

And as she heard this story something inside her made her think: ‘I must meet this man and ask him his secret.’

It was the call to fulfil her dreams, her call to freedom, her call to love, her call to happiness.

She had read that the man was going to give a talk that evening in the centre of town. When she arrived there, there were tens of thousands of people?all waiting?all wanting to know how he did it?how he managed to live such a life.

The curtains opened and he was sitting in the centre of the stage with his wife, smiling, so at peace, so happy.

And when a person asked him how he did it, which special qualities he had in order to live such an extraordinary life?he replied,’My dear, dear friend?it is not that I am particularly special?that I have special qualities or powers?the truth is that everyone without exception is very, very special, with extraordinary qualities and extraordinary powers. You just do not know it yet?’ and he added, ‘and the secret is to be, love and cherish yourself; it is to be your true essence. You are well-being and love and peace and energy and light and infinite and presence and life and infinite wisdom; it is to ask, because whatever you ask, you shall receive’; and he added, ‘you know, you can have and be and do anything, really anything, you want; you just need to choose what makes you most happy in your heart. It is very simple; and he added, ‘And my dear friend, there is something else that I must tell you; there is another thing you need to know: you are loved beyond measure for who you are, and you are beautiful.’

And while she was listening to the old man, she cried, because she understood the truth, and she felt liberated and totally empowered to achieve the desires of her heart. And so she started her journey?

Much of modern society is a mad rush these days to keep up with those around us. In this mad dash, it is easy to lose the thread on what life is supposed to be and how we should live it.

If you want to survive and be a success, you have to fight like a dog in our modern society. Whether it is owning your own business or office politics, you inevitably will face adversity. Sometimes, it seems as though we move from one crisis to another day after day, week after week and so on. Frankly, it can where you down and make life less than exhilarating.

Good and evil are the galvanizing forces of many a civilization and nation. Standing back from conflicts and debates, it is quickly apparent that definitions used by nations are often a matter of perspective. Simply put, no nation has ever viewed itself as evil and doing its work for evil purposes. In modern terms, the potential conflict between the Unite States and Iran is just such a situation. Neither country believes they are acting in the stead of evil, but both conversely feel the other is! Alas, an interesting perspective indeed.

Inspirational Historical Thoughts on Justice

We live in a period of massive exposure to information of all sorts and types. While information is important in an effort to evaluate the circumstances confronting us on a personal and world wide basis, the manipulation of information has led to the twisting or at least obfuscation of the true measure of powerful words. Put simply, sound bites seem to be the rule of the day with deeper thoughts on subjects lost to the wind.

The concept of justice is one such area where sound bites have run amuck. Just what is justice? Is it revenge, a calling to terms, pure responsibility for one?s actions or what? As a strict definition, various dictionaries note that justice is the quality of being fair or just. More so, it is noted as the act of being fair and moral in judging all people. Somehow, such a definition seems just a bit bland and vague.

In this day and age, it often helps to look back to famous and, occasionally, infamous historical figures and their thoughts on the meaning. In fact, let us take a look:

Our Prized Black Pearl

‘Moses approached the thick darkness where God was’ (Exodus 20:21); ‘I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord…’ (Isaiah 45:3).

Darkness isn’t all disagreeable. We meet our Jesus in the dark of Gethsemane where He gives us the treasures of at-one-ment and commitment, victory and eternity. In the dark of our despair we can shape a prized black pearl from a black disappointment and make it a jewel of grace and integrity.

‘He knows what lies in darkness’ (Dan. 2:22b). He knows if it is evil that lurks or grief that consumes us in the dark night of our soul. His Light will consume both, too. There is no evil of which He is unaware; neither is there any sorrow that the Man of Sorrows does not feel with us as we toss through the long night.

‘I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places’ (Isaiah 45:3.) It has been suggested that the real meaning of this verse is when the veil was rent in the Temple at the moment of our Lord’s death. For three hours before Jesus died, there lay a thick curtain of darkness over Mount Calvary but at the ninth hour the veil was rent in two, from top to bottom. Before that, the world was engulfed in misery and ignorance and confusion. But the moment that our Surety died, the clouds of sadness were dissipated for us all.

How Could He Give Us Up

?How could I give you up…?’ (Hosea 11:8).

James Dobson wrote an interesting book, Love Must Be Tough. God has to be tough at times, too, with his stiff-necked and stubborn people, which includes us all. But how our hearts melt when we read, ‘My heart is overwhelmed, my pity is stirred’ (Hosea 11:8b). We forget that our Father has feelings, too. Humans give up on each other when it seems hopeless, but God goes on loving and giving and forgiving.

Years ago one of our sons had been giving us trouble. One day he asked our forgiveness. To quote verse 8, my heart was overwhelmed. We both wept. How could I not free him, for that is really the essence of forgiveness. ‘I delight in mercy,’ says our God of the Old Testament. I certainly delighted in telling this precious son about a God ‘who removes guilt and pardons sin … Who does not persist in anger forever, but delights rather in clemency…’ (Micah 7:18). Thank God that He chooses to grant us mercy instead of the full measure of justice. He says to us all, ‘How could I give you up?’

?Oh, prodigal, you may be wandering on the dark mountains of sin, but God wants you to come home! The devil has been telling you lies about God; you think He will not receive you back. I tell you He will welcome you this minute if you will come. Say ?I will arise, and go to my Father.? There is not one whom Jesus has not sought far longer than that father. There has not been a day since you left Him but tie has followed you. I do not care what the past has been, or how black your life, He will receive you back. Arise, then, O backslider, and come home once more to your Father?s house? (D. L. Moody).

From Chaff to Winnowed Wheat

‘But I have prayed for you,…that your faith may not fail…’ (Luke 22:32).

Jesus prays for us, that we may not fail–what a blessed thought! We are so distraught, but our Advocate, our Redeemer, our Savior, prays FOR us. Thank You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for interceding for us. Satan asks to have us but our beloved Jesus won’t let anyone take us out of His hand and heart. Yes, God allows His wheat to be winnowed, but our sieve is His love and compassion for us. Our chaff passes through His own broken heart of total love and He then gathers the wheat of our imperfect life and cradles it in His hands. We can be comforted with the assurance that Jesus won’t allow any storm to whisk us out of His protecting heart and hands.

‘Yet Peter was permitted to fall under temptation; but he was won back again, converted the second time, so to speak, by the loving look of Jesus; and thus destined to become a strengthener of the brethren. So that our Lord’s prayers for us may be that, through permitted humiliations and tears and penitence, we may pass on to power. It is only when self-confidence, as in Peter’s case, has been purged out of us by humiliating discoveries of our personal weakness, that we are in a position to undertake the care and strengthening of brethren. Broken-hearted Simon becomes, after Pentecost, the reliable Rock-man, worthy of the new name, Peter’ (Anonymous).

Because I Love You

I forget where I found the following, but it has motivated me to try to apply these wonderful principles in my own relationships. It is so difficult at times to love as God loves! ?Because I love you? is a great preface to all our actions and words. May God bless us and help us to remember this!

1 Corinthians 13 as motivational statements:

*I am patient with you because I love you and want to forgive you.

*I am kind to you because I love you and want to help you.

*I do not envy your possessions or gifts because I love you and want you to have the best.

*I do not boast about my attainments because I love you and want to hear about yours.

*I am not proud because I love you and want to esteem you before myself.

*I am not rude because I love you and care about your feelings.

*I am not self seeking because I love you and want to meet your needs.

*I am not easily angered by you because I love you and want to overlook your offenses.

*I do not keep a record of your wrongs because I love you and love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8)

Love covers it all!

Duty, Responsibility, Obedience - Words Still in the Dictionary

‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord and not for men’ (Colossians 3:23).

Duty, responsibility, obedience: what onerous words! One person goes to war, another to the kitchen, another to his or her desk at the office and another to the classroom. Each is to work enthusiastically, dependably and honorably.

We cannot do it all, much as some of us would like to do much more, but we can do our fragment of the whole work. We join the work of others who have gone before us and will come after us. Our duty is to do our part resolutely and satisfactorily. It is useless to fret over what we are unable to do, for we all have limitations. Another part is another’s responsibility, and it is waiting for that person, just as our work waits for us.

Sometimes it seems impossible to get started on the day’s work. Dwight L. Moody gives advice that might help: ‘Some say if only my fears and doubts will leave then I will get to work. But instead you should get to work and then your fears and doubts will leave.’ Samuel Johnson gives a sage suggestion, also: ‘Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.’ And Ruskin tells us: ‘Every noble life leaves its fiber interwoven forever in the work of the world.’

‘…A great door for effective work has opened…’ (1 Corinthians 16:9). Each day is that door. We can forget about yesterday and its laziness and failure. ‘Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus’ (Phil. 1:6). Being confident is the secret to the success of working for God and not for men. God knows about the perspiration and perseverance. We can place our trust in Him to know our strengths and weaknesses and how much we can do. Sometimes relatives and friends are not so merciful.
